Hallsville is the bedroom community between Moberly and Columbia — close enough to commute to either, far enough out to have a yard. It's been growing, and growth means new construction, new garages, and a lot of families settling in with more stuff than the house was planned for.
Hallsville also had one of Boone County's recycling drop-off sites. It closed in 2025 along with the rest of the county program after the Columbia facility was destroyed, and it hasn't reopened. The bulk material that used to go there is sitting in garages.
