Missouri Junkers is Cole and Isy, a married couple out of Moberly. There's no dispatcher and no second crew. The people who answer the phone are the people who show up, load the trailer, and sweep the floor behind it.
They started it to build something as a family — work of their own, in the towns they live in, that they can hand down to their kids someday. And they started it to be useful. A lot of what they do is helping somebody through a hard week: a house to empty after a death in the family, a rental a tenant wrecked, a garage that's been closed for a year because there was nowhere to take anything.
Both of them work weekends in healthcare as certified nursing assistants — Isy came to it from a nursing home — and run the business Monday through Friday. That matters more than it sounds like it should. It means they're used to hard, physical work. It means they know how to be careful with people, in their homes, on a bad day. And it means a hoarder cleanout or an estate is nothing they haven't walked into before.
